Dear Sun Life Business Partners & Advisors,
Adjustment of crediting interest rate of Bright UL Wealth-Builder
To align with our company’s practice, we regularly review our product propositions for client value and sustainability. Crediting interest rate is mainly determined by the performance of investment returns. After a review of the recent investment returns, effective from May 13, 2022, the crediting interest rate of Bright UL Wealth-Builder will be reduced from 3.45% p.a. to 3.20% p.a. based on the following reasons:
1. Recently, the global financial markets have been highly volatile, both the macro-economic and financial environments are filled with risks and uncertainties. Shocks in the financial and asset markets have been driven by factors including the uncertain outlook of the Ukraine situation, fluctuations in oil prices, persistently high inflation and global epidemics.
2. In the past few years, interest rates in Hong Kong have remained low.
3. The Hong Kong stock market underperformed over the past 2 years. Non-fixed income assets account for 5%-25% of Bright UL Wealth-Builder's investment portfolio, which greatly affects its investment performance.
This adjustment is aimed at maintaining the product persistency and fulfill our commitment to provide excellent products and services to our clients. When the global economic outlook and investment returns have improved, we will consider raising the crediting interest rate. For details, please refer to the attached FAQ.
